Just because you're building for free doesn't mean you shouldn't save your work. Use backups and snapshots to keep track as you continue building.

Backups are automatically created disk images of Droplets.   Enable backups to turn on system-level backups at weekly intervals, providing a way to revert to an older state or create new Droplets.

You can create snapshots from an existing Droplet in order to save all of the current contents from the Droplet's disk. Use snapshots to create new Droplets and volumes with the same contents.
